The sports betting world is still trying to figure out how Yankees pitcher C.C. Sabathia is not an all-star. There are also MLB betting experts that consider leaving Pittsburgh Pirates center fielder Andrew McCutchen and his game-changing speed off the all-star roster to be a slap in the face to the Pirates. But there are plenty of great players on each side and there should be a lot of action in this year’s MLB All-Star game.
American League
There is an awful lot of Boston Red Sox on this year’s all-star roster including pitcher Josh Beckett, designated hitter David Ortiz and first baseman Adrian Gonzalez. There are plenty of Yankees as well including Robinson Cano, Alex Rodriguez and Derek Jeter.
Some of the surprises on this AL All-Star roster include Seattle Mariners’ pitcher Brandon League and Detroit catcher Alex Avila. The AL starting line-up is filled with power hitters that should give the NL pitchers all kinds of problems. The issue for the AL is that they filled their pitching rotation with players that are having up and down seasons.
National League
In a testament to their individual performances so far this season, San Diego pitcher Heath Bell and Washington pitcher Tyler Clippard are on the pitching rotation for the NL. You have to like the NL’s pitching in this game. It is the perfect rotation to match up against the power of the AL.
The NL batting order includes some power guys like Prince Fielder and Lance Berkman, but the line-up for the NL mostly hits for average. That may not work very well in an All-Star game.
