    UFC 127 Preview

Published on Thursday, February 10, 2011

On Saturday February 27, 2011 UFC betting enthusiasts will be glued to their television sets as UFC 127 Penn vs. Fitch takes place in Australia. Similar to the upcoming UFC betting online card in Toronto, Canada at the end of March for UFC 129, UFC 127 has plenty of intriguing matchups featuring local Australian names, to please the crowd. Here is a preview of UFC 127.

Despite losing his light heavyweight belt to Frankie Edgar and then losing the rematch both on unanimous decision, BJ Penn is once again headlining a UFC card. This time, his opponent is John Fitch, a fighter that was pulled from UFC 125 in order to face Penn. The fight will see BJ Penn move up in class from lightweight to welterweight, in hopes that a victory over Fitch will allow Penn the opportunity to get into the octagon with middleweight champion Anderson Silva.

While Penn critics may harp on the veteran technician for moving down to lightweight, Penn does hold two impressive victories at welterweight both over the legendary Matt Hughes. However, as we noted above Penn struggled mightily against Frankie Edgar, and John Fitch is a welterweight that simply enjoys beating up his opponents.

Fitch is a fierce fighter, whose most storied rival just happens to be Canadian athlete of the year George St. Pierre. In all of their matchups, St. Pierre has walked away victorious, however, Fitch has gotten close on a number of occasions to defeating the French Canadian. What’s more, a win over Penn by Fitch would once again make him an ideal opponent for GSP. But if it were up to us, we’d like to see the winner of this fight step into the ring with Anderson Silva. Fitch’s wrestling background will likely come into play in this fight with Penn, and since Penn struggles in wrestling format, Fitch is who we believe will win this fight.
