There are four teams left in the baseball playoffs right now and for the MLB, there really is no bad potential World Series matchup.
The worst of the four permutations would be the Los Angeles Angels and Philadelphia Phillies, as the Angels just don’t have much cache. Considering they are in a big hole to the New York Yankees in the American League Championship Series, we probably won’t have to worry about seeing the Angels in the World Series. Had they faced off with the Los Angeles Dodgers, though, nobody would have minded.
If the Yankees advance, as expected, they’ll either face off with the Philadelphia Phillies in a matchup against the reigning World Series champs or they’ll face off with the Los Angeles Dodgers.
A matchup with the Phillies would be excellent as it would pit two hot hitting teams against each other in an awesome showdown. A matchup with the Dodgers would be good too as it would pit manager Joe Torre versus his former team and also renew some battles between Dodgers slugger Manny Ramirez and the Pinstripe Bombers.
Look for the Phillies – who have Pedro Martinez on their roster – to represent the National League and the Yankees to represent the American League it what should be a classic. Both teams are playing as good as can be in the postseason and it should be nothing short of a fantastic series.
